First-Year Experience
Your first year will be full of changes, concerns, and questions. Herget Residential College can help you make an easier transition to college life. Participants are all first-year students who live in Herget Hall. Students take several classes together, creating a "mini-campus" atmosphere. Participants also interact with faculty members and other freshmen to continue learning outside the classroom.
Special Features
Herget Residential College provides more than just a place to live. The program is designed to integrate learning with community living. Students not only live together; they also share common courses, with several English classes taught in the new state-of-the-art multimedia smart classroom off the Herget lobby.
Faculty involvement is an exceptional plus for Herget Residential College students. Some faculty hold office hours and review sessions there. As a result of increased faculty and student interaction, both students and faculty find learning to be a more engaging and rewarding experience.
Requirements and Curriculum
Academic requirements for Herget Residential College are the same as those for acceptance into LSU.
As an entering freshman you will take classes in English, mathematics, biology, or chemistry with fellow Herget students, in addition to the university courses you need for your major.
